  • Click here to see the price list

2.  How does billing work?

This is a 2 step process.
  • The Lions Club only sells ad space in the yellow pages as well as business white pages and will invoice accordingly.
Our prices are listed on this web site at the link above.
  • "Alea Design and Print" will invoice separately for the design and layout of the ad.  Contact Alea for their pricing.
                                            info@aleaprint.com    phone: 250-539-5361

Bottom line:  You may receive 2 bills,

1.  one from the Lions Club for your ad space; and,

     when or after you consult with Alea;

2.  one from "Alea Design and Print" for their design work on your ad.
3.  I'd like to design my own ad.  What are the guidelines for designing my own ad?
  • See this link for Alea Print and Design specs. Alea will not charge you for designing your own ad as long as it conforms to their design specs.

4.  What are the different sizes of the ads?
  • full page, 1/2 page, 1/4 page, and 1/8 page.
See this link for examples of ad sizes

5.  How do I change my White Page listings or add a new listing?
  • Forms are located outside the Trading Post store
                                or
  • Fill in the form online and submit it.

6.  How do I order a yellow page ad in the Mayne Island Telephone Book?
  • Fill out the on-line order form and submit your payment online (via e-transfer) or by cheque.
7.  I want to keep my same ad size but want to change the content of my ad.  Who do I contact?

If Alea will make your changes then  Contact Alea Design and Print.

     info@aleaprint.com    phone: 250-539-5361

If someone else created your ad then have them make the changes and you must be sure to send

History of the Mayne Island Lions Club phone book
It Takes A Team
  • Teams of Lions solicit advertising from businesses on Mayne Island, neighbouring Gulf Islands, and in Sidney and Victoria areas.
  • Other volunteers help with billing, maintaining a current customers database, proofreading and phone number verification, gathering artwork and photographs.
  •  Printing is done by Alea Print and Design, a Mayne Island company.
  • Mayne Island residents receive a complimentary copy in their Mayne Island mail box.

2014 Bob Knapman Honoured
DG Medwedrich honoured Bob Knapman for his work with the Mayne Island phone book project.  Thankfully other Lions have stepped up to take their turns at producing this telephone book.

The phone book raises funds through sales of advertising space. There is also an opportunity to donate a nominal sum ($10.00) for your copy.

For the first 14 years, the Mayne Island Lions phone book, a major annual Lions fund raiser, was under the guidance of Lion Bob Knapman.

Each year a team is assembled to do the sales, marketing and production of the telephone book.  A prominent piece of art is chosen for the cover page.
