From the Lions Den February, 2020
January has been a quiet month for the Lions, a welcome respite from the always busy December. Thanks again to all the Lions that helped at the numerous festive events. Winter is a time to reflect indoors out of the snow and rain. It is also a time to plan for the year ahead and the Lions Executive will be at their retreat in early February planning an event filled 2020 for our community. The executive is looking for willing Lions to step forward and fill some of the executive positions over the next few months. Also, the February Lions dinner meeting will include a CPR demonstration by Barb Edwards with spouses and friends welcome to attend. Even though the tents, tables, chairs and cutlery are staying dry in the Lions shed before the rental season begins, it is never too early to book these items for a Spring or Summer event. To book a rental, simply go to our web page to make the arrangements. Remember to work closely with Henry Till -- Found at <htill@shaw.ca> Lion Toby Snelgrove and his helpers will soon be getting the 2020 Mayne Island telephone book to the community. Thanks for another great job, Toby. Future events to mark on your calendar include a diabetes clinic to be held in the lower room of the Health Centre on March 11. Additional details of this Lions sponsored event will be forthcoming in February. The Lions and the Mayne Island Early Childhood Society are also planning a fundraising cook off for March 27. This year’s cook off will be Tapas and hors d’ oeuvres. Get a head start and pull out those old recipe books! Fred Mussett; http://www.mayneislandlions.org |
