
The Fred Greenslade Scholarship

In honour of Fred Greenslade, the first president of the Mayne Island Lions Club, the Mayne Island Lions Club offers a post-secondary scholarship to Mayne Island students graduating from secondary school.
WHO CAN APPLY
The Mayne Island Lions Club invites secondary school graduates living on Mayne Island who plan to pursue a post-secondary education to apply.
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship amount is determined by the fund-raising efforts in a particular year and the distribution of funds to other worthy projects. The 2026 scholarship is a single payment of $1500.​​
​​​​HOW TO APPLY
Applicants will be judged on academic performance, school and community involvement (doing service), and recommendations from school and/or community personnel.
The application should include:

A letter indicating the applicant's intentions, for post-secondary education and involvement in the school or community.

Transcripts for the previous 2 years (or have them forwarded from the school ).
3
Letters of reference from school personnel and, if relevant, community members.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

A committee from the Mayne Island Lions Club will select the recipient. Committee members who are direct friends or family members of an applicant will be excluded from final decision process.
