In January 2018 the Mayne Island School PAC met with the Lions Club to co-host a "Crock Pot Cook off" to raise funds for the School Technology initiative. On February 16th the event took place in the school gymnasium. This was the important message to the community: "Tonight is the night! Come down to the Mayne Island School for an amazing event! Come sample some of Mayne Islands best crock pot creations. There will be Live Local Talents performing from 8pm to 10pm. We'll push the tables aside to make room for some dancing! Come for the food, stay for the music! A silent auction with a lot of amazing items plus a student art auction. 50/50 and refreshments. All funds go to the Mayne Island School tech fund. So come out a support the school and the students of this amazing community." This event raised over $8,000.00 towards providing computer technology to our students. WELL DONE!! Margo Cullen, Janelle Lawson and Tara Walker get full marks along with everyone else that made a contribution. Many Lions were on hand to serve where needed. MIALS (assisted Living) won the top crock prize and the Fire Department got the Civic award. From the happy smiling faces in the pictures below it was a great evening. |
